Before you start
You need:- To be an admin of the Kaneo workspace you are importing into.
- The URL of the other instance, for example
https://cloud.kaneo.app. - An API key created on the other instance. Sign in there and open Settings → Account → API keys.
Connect
- On the instance you are importing into, open Settings → Workspace → Import and choose Another Kaneo.
- Paste the other instance’s URL and the API key you created there.
- Select the projects to import. The list includes projects from every workspace the key can see. Leave comments on, or turn them off.
- Start the import. You can leave the page while it runs and check Recent imports later.
What carries over
What doesn’t
- Custom fields.
- Time entries.
- Attachments. Images and files in descriptions and comments still point to the other instance and may not display. Download any files you need from the other instance first.
- Task relations to tasks in other projects.
- Integration links on tasks, such as linked GitHub issues.
Troubleshooting
The key is rejected: check that you created the key on the instance whose URL you entered, and that it hasn’t been revoked. A project is missing from the list: the key has the same access as the account that created it. If that account is limited to selected projects in a workspace, only those projects are listed. The other instance can’t be reached: the instance you import into must be able to reach the other one over the network. Kaneo Cloud can’t import from a self-hosted instance that is only reachable inside your network. Between two self-hosted instances on a private network, the operator of the importing instance must setKANEO_ALLOW_PRIVATE_WEBHOOK_DESTINATIONS=true. See Self-hosted instances.
Tasks are unassigned: the assignee’s email must match a member of the workspace you import into. Invite them, delete the imported project, and import it again, or assign the tasks by hand.
