# Kaneo CLI

> Manage tasks and projects from your terminal with the official Kaneo command-line client.

The official Kaneo CLI is a single `kaneo` binary for macOS, Linux and Windows. It works with Kaneo Cloud and self-hosted instances, shows styled output in a terminal, and prints plain JSON for scripts and agents.

## Quick start

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"min-light","dark":"min-dark"}}
curl -fsSL https://kaneo.app/cli/install.sh | sh
kaneo login
kaneo
```

On Windows, install it in PowerShell with `irm https://kaneo.app/cli/install.ps1 | iex`. [Install](/docs/cli/install) covers versions, mirrors and supported systems, and [Sign in](/docs/cli/sign-in) covers self-hosted servers and API keys.

## Everyday commands

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"min-light","dark":"min-dark"}}
kaneo workspace list
kaneo workspace use            # pick the default workspace
kaneo project list
kaneo task list -p KAN         # tasks grouped by column
kaneo task list -p KAN --mine --open
kaneo task mine                # your open tasks, soonest due first
kaneo task view KAN-12
kaneo task create "Fix login redirect" -p KAN --priority high --due tomorrow
kaneo task status KAN-12 done
kaneo task assign KAN-12 me
kaneo comment add KAN-12 "Shipped in v2.35"
kaneo time start KAN-12
kaneo time stop
kaneo task open KAN-12
kaneo search "login redirect"
```

Tasks are addressed by their ticket ID, such as `KAN-12`, or by their ID. If a ticket ID exists in more than one of your workspaces, pass `-w` to choose one.

When a workspace, project or column is missing and you are in a terminal, the CLI shows a searchable picker. In scripts it stops with an error that names the flag to pass.

Every command has `--help`, and the [command reference](/docs/cli/reference) lists every argument and flag. Print a shell completion script with `kaneo --completions zsh` (or `bash`, `fish`, `sh`).

## Update

Run the install command again. It replaces `kaneo` with the latest release and keeps your logins and settings. See [Install](/docs/cli/install#update) for pinned versions and mirrors.
